Furthermore, the Bank has been undertaking CSR projects under healthcare directly by supporting them with critical medical equipment needed for the ICU, Ophthalmology department, Pathology lab, etc. Some of the significant projects executed under the healthcare thematic area are:
(i) Pink Bus - Patna Smart City initiative: A defunct bus was converted into a mobile toilet to include four restrooms, a nursing room with solar-based electrification, and a coffee vending machine — an initiative to improve security and sanitation facilities for women at marketplaces where there is no toilet facility. The bus shall be moving around the city, catering to the women of multiple localities. This initiative has been benefitting about 300 women on normal days and 1,500+ women on festivals and days of significant events.
(ii) Provision of Ambulance: The Bank has provided ambulances at the following places to help the emergency transportation of severely
sick patients:
- Barasat Cancer Research & Welfare Center at Kolkata — to ferry underprivileged cancer patients from remote rural parts of West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha
- Govt. Hospital, Modi Nagar — catering to 35 neighbouring villages
- Taki Municipality, 24 N. Parganas — covering 20+ neighbouring villages, serving socio-economically backward classes
- Guwahati Municipal Corporation — catering to 2,000+ patients a month
- Indira Gandhi Govt. Hospital, Bhiwandi
(iii) Civil Hospital of Barnala & Mandar Hospital at Ranchi: These hospitals, serving the tribal communities of the neighbourhood, lacked enough testing equipment in their Ophthalmology departments to cater to the increased volume of patients. The Bank has provided a complete set of testing equipment like Auto-Refractor cum Keratometer, Tonometer, Lens/Auto-refraction set, etc.
