1. Who is eligible to open an NRE Recurring Deposit?

NRI customers of Ujjivan SFB with a valid and updated KYC. RD cannot be opened if KYC is pending or the passport/visa has expired.

2. From which account will the monthly instalment be debited?

The instalment will be debited from your existing NRE Savings Account.

3. Where will the maturity amount be credited?

The maturity or pre-closure proceeds will be credited to the same NRE Savings Account.

4. Is the interest earned taxable?

No. Interest earned on NRE Recurring Deposits is exempt from TDS (as per current regulations).

5. Can I withdraw partially from my Recurring Deposit?

No. Partial withdrawals are not permitted.

6. Is overdraft facility available against the deposit?

No. Overdraft facility is not available against an NRE Recurring Deposit.

7. Can I close the deposit before maturity?

Yes, premature closure is allowed.

8. What happens if I miss a monthly instalment?

A penalty of 1.5% of the instalment amount + applicable GST will be deducted from the overall interest at maturity or pre-closure.
